I don't know how to set up Outlook 2007. I click on it, and the wizard comes
up, but when I enter my hotmail information, nothing happens; the wizard never finishes installing the software and I have to start over again. I do not know very much about computer software or computers in general. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you. |

If you are running a wizard to add an account, you are not installing any "software". The software was already installed by the time you got to running the wizard to create an e-mail account definition. No version of Outlook will work with the new Deltasync protocol that Microsoft moved to. They support the old WebDAV protocol that Microsoft dropped. To add Deltasync support to Outlook (to get at Hotmail accounts, you need to download the Outlook Connector add-on (it was poorly named and should've been called the Hotmail Connector add-on) from Microsoft's download site (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads) and use that when you add a new account. The add-on only works with 2003 and 2007 versions of Outlook. Deltasync can be used to access free and paid Hotmail accounts. If you have a paid Windows Live Hotmail PLUS account (and *not* a paid MSN Hotmail Premium account), you can use POP3 to access your Hotmail account. Microsoft returned POP3 access last November 2007 but only for Windows Live Hotmail Plus accounts. |

Start with Control Panel-Mail Icon-Accounts-New. Add your Hotmail
information there and you should be good to go. Is this a standard Hotmail account or did you pay for it? If it is unpaid, upgrade to Windows Live Mail. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact.
