A distribution list shows when I go to it in contacts.
But when I try to access it in the "To" field of a message "The name has been deleted and it is no longer a valid entry" Its now happened to me several times |

Do you mean you are trying to access the DL from the Outlook Address Book?
What happens if you open this DL from your Contacts Folder? DL's are not reliable. Many become corrupt after a while. Hardly any ever survive a transfer of your Outlook data to another installation, for example. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Michael Mause" wrote in message ... In Outlook mail - new - I am typing the DL name in the To line
It correctly identifies the DL and shows it with a + sign When I click on the plus sign to expand the list the error message occurs When I go into the Contacts section, I can find the DL but when I use it to send a message it says no good I have started copying my DLs and saving as DL namefollowed by 1 so if it does not work, I can try the /1 version Pretty pathetic I do transfer from one pc to another using a save of the contacts as a pst file, maybe thats the problem It shouldnt be like that, surely MM "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ... DL's only survive if you transfer Outlook data correctly. Import and export
kills them. You must copy the PST file and reuse it if you want DL's to survive. What happens if you just open this DL from the Contacts Folder? If I go to contacts, and lookup and display the DL, then use Actions New
Message it shows the DL name with + sign and clicking expands the name to individual contacts and emails fine If in Email New I start to enter the DL name letter by letter in the "To" message box, it shows the selection box with the DL name, when I click to select it puts it in the "To" box with a plus sign, but when I click on the plus sign it says "The name has been deleted and it is no longer a valid entry" and it wont expand it It is as if the search in the EMail New list is not connecting correctly with the Contacts Folder Any thoughts? That just means you have a corrupt entry in your autocompletion cache.
Delete it and let Outlook create a new one the next time you send to this DL. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Michael Mause" wrote in message ... Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of the field. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Michael Mause" wrote in message ...
