Peter,
Um...I'm not sure what you mean. What subject line? Where? Did you read my whole message?: I've tried all the different ways of customizing views and defining views, but none of these will stay the way I change them. I know this is a basic Outlook configuration, but my problem is that the configurator isn't working. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Foldes" Newsgroups: microsoft.public.outlook Sent: Wednesday, October 08, 2008 2:55 PM Subject: Outlook 2007, Arrange By: Right click on the Subject lie and select Customize View and pick your poison -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. How can I get it to do what I want it to do? wiersma7 |

I'm honestly not your usual ignorant computer user. I know my way around a
computer and MS Office. I do not see the 'From Subject Received' words anywhere when Outlook 2007 is open. Again, I need to repeat this because I'm not sure you're with me he I have used the 'customize views' and the 'Define Views' and MY Outlook 2007 will not accept the changes I'm making there. I know how to use the fields and the grouping and the sorting etc., etc., etc. I know the different places I can customize the view. I know how to customize the view. I just want my customizations to work!!! I'm not trying to do anything fancy. I just want my Inbox to be 'Arranged By: Date' and stay that way - expanded. It goes to 'collapsed' and 'Arranged By: From' everytime I move away from my Inbox folder. I check on a date - go back...collapsed and arranged by from. I go to Define View, change the way it groups and it goes back to collapsed and arranged by from. Same with Customize View. Same with 'View/Arrange by:/Customize. Right now Customize/Define view is configured: Groups - none, Sort - Received...but my Inbox does 'collapsed' and 'Arranged By: From'. That's what I mean about my configurator not working. I guess I don't need to know how to do it, but how to fix it ![]() "Peter Foldes" wrote in message ... This is interesting: On my home computer I reset the view with no problem.
On my work computer (that I'm having the problem with) the 'Reset View' button is grayed out. Is this significant? "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote in message ... Yay! I don't know what happened, but I somehow got the 'reset' button to
ungray(I think it had to do with uncustomized view?), pressed it, went back and made sure things were customized properly for the view I wanted and...It's fixed!!! Thanks to all who hung in there with me and gave me solutions.!!! I'm back to being productive! wiersma 7 "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote in message ... it either means the admin disabled it or they view you are using wasn't customized.
