What is a group? Outlook uses no such term. We have no idea what your
definition of it is. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bob" wrote in message ... I am using office 2007. I have my contacts and want to start a new group listed as contractors. Russ,
The OP was probably referring to "Distribution List." Bob, In Office Outlook 2007, Open Outlook, choose New Distribution List from the File drop down menu. Then place the name of the Distribution list in the Name: field. Then click on the Select Members Icon on the task bar. Enter the name of the contractor in the Search box. When the contractor that you want appears and is selected, press Enter on the keyboard, without doing anything else, start typing the name of the second contractor that you wish to place in the list, when the contractor appears again press Enter on the keyboard. Repeat as desired. When finished, click OK. Now click on the Save and Close icon on the task bar. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ... What is a group? Outlook uses no such term. ... Russ, The OP was probably referring to "Distribution List." No he's not - in the Contacts view there's a link in the L/H pane which is called "Start a New Group". I found that entirely confusing as well.... -- Asking a question? Please tell me what I'm doing wrong The "Group" you are referring to is NOT a "group of Contacts" If you want to create a DISTRIBUTION List then do File-New-Distribution List. But you might want to take a look at the use of Categories - far more flexible, robust and easier to use then a D/L. http://email.about.com/od/outlooktip...tegory_dis.htm -- Asking a question? See how much time and effort are wasted when people make up their own terms
and assume we can figure out what they mean? I'm betting neither of you has guessed correctly. I suspect OP is trying to create a Distribution List but neglected to connect the Outlook Address Service to his Contacts Folder, so cannot select his Contacts as members. We may never know. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Gordon" wrote in message ... "Charles W Davis" wrote in message ... Russ, The OP was probably referring to "Distribution List." But. It's more probable that as Outlook uses the name "distribution list" in File-New-DISTRIBUTION LIST, the OP would probably have mentioned "Distribution List" rather than Group. He didn't. he used the word "Group". And as you know, in the L/H pane in Contacts view is a link that says "make new GROUP". So I assert that my assumption is probably more correct than yours. But as you say, we may never know because the OP hasn't responded... |

You're probably right, but I've been forced to try to read minds for a lot
of years here and the number of times users refer to DL's as groups is higher than I can count. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Gordon" wrote in message ...
