Default Follow up Flag

Diane

These are emails that come into the default "Inbox". They remain in the
Inbox. This is what I do:
Right click on the email (in Inbox) | Follow Up | Add Reminder.
From there, I set the date and time. Setting the color of the flag in "In
Material" ... so it doesn't matter what it gets set to. When I'm done, the
email should automatically copy to the "Follow Up" folder until the reminder
has been cleared (from the Reminder Window that pops up to remind you).

This is not happening for me nor my co-worker (at work using laptops). But
for some reason, it works fine on the desktop computer at the house.

Thanks for your input thus far.

is the message in the inbox? reminders only fire on items in the default
folders. It should be visible in the for follow up search folder though.

Using Outlook 2003. When I set a reminder on an email, it does not go
into
the "Follow Up" folder. Therefore, a popup does not appear in the
"Reminder
View". The email turns red when the date/time has expired, but no
popups/reminder windows appears.

Added note!
This works fine on my husbands computer but not on my work (Laptop)
computer. It also does not work on my friends computer at work.

Is this a setting that has to be turned on? What's the deal.

Help

Is the item that's still in FollowUp still flagged? You're using Dismiss in
the reminders window?

I don't understand your question.
The email never makes it into the Follow Up folder as it is suppose to.
Therefore, it never displays in the Reminder Window; hence, the reminder
never occurs.

Flagged for follow up and reminders are 2 separate properties although
usually if you set a reminder on an item it gets flagged also. However you
can have a reminder with no flag and a flag with no reminder.

If you set a flag does it appear with a flag in the folder view? If it does
and not in the Follow Up folder then that folder should be deleted and
re-created. To do so right-click in that folder in the Folder List and
delete it. Then right-click on the Search Folders entry in the Folder List
and select New Search Folder. In that dialog select "mail flagged for follow
up" to create a new search folder.

If you set a reminder on an item and it isn't in the default Inbox,
Calendar, Tasks or Contacts folders it will not fire a reminder, the item
will only turn red when due.

So the behavior would depend on where the item lives, if a flag or reminder
or both are set on an item and if the search folder is working.

I tried this, but it is still set up the same way. My "Search Folder" is a
subset of my "Personal Folders" so it will only search folders in my
"Personal Folders" which does not include my "Inbox".

A search folder can only search in the mail store it's in. It cannot search
across mail stores (PST files).

I'm not sure I understand your response. My wife posted this issue. It is
my desktop computer, running Outlook 2003 that is working correctly. Her
laptop (and a co-worker) is having the problem. But now that you mentioned
the PST file, it brings up a point. I know I have a PST file. I don't know
if she does.

If she is configured differently and does NOT have a PST file, will hers
work the same?
