Default Deleting e-mails

How can I permanently delete items in my folders without having them
go into my Deleted Items folder?

OK but how do I turn off the "Are you sure that you want to
permanently delete the selected item(s)?" prompt?

You can't. That's the safety net. After all, once you get used to
using Shift+Del, you WILL be back here asking how to undelete a
permanently deleted item. The safety prompt just delays how long before
you come back.

You can do that by going to Tools/Options and looking around. I've shut
down my Winders machine for the night so I can't give you more info
other than it can be done.

Tools-Options-Other-uncheck the option to warn before permanently
deleting items.

Ah, I learned something new. The OP never mentioned WHICH version of
Outlook he is using. In OL2002, it is in the naviation path you mention
but with the addition of clicking on the Advanced Options button.
