If you turn on the Advanced toolbar and click the Group By Box. You will see
Russ is right - when you click a Column Header, you are sending that column
header into the Group By Box.

descending order among the groups.
You can set a sort order within each group, but you cannot sort the view

You are mistaken. Contacts can never be sorted by Category.

So when I click on the "Category" column header in the Contacts by
Category view and it changes the alphabetical order of Categories from
A-Z to Z-A that's NOT sorting?
