Default Outlook does not save password

Windows XP with sp3. Outlook 2003, no updates. It was working fine untill 3
weeks ago. Installed CyerDefender 3 months ago. Now have it uninstalled. It
still does not save the password.
I did not find any viruses with Xoftspy.
What can cause this and can I fix it?
Loretta

Hi Milly,
I removed the old profile. I am trying to set up a new one. Now the incoming
server is not responding. I have checked and rechecked the setting and they
are right.

Now we are back to where we started. Click on send/receive, sends ok but
then ask for a renter of the password. Once it is put in again it receives
fine. But still does keep the password. If you hit send receive again it
asks for the password again for the receive.
