I have a notebook user that has a complaint about when outlook opens while
he is off network. While he can access his cached ost file ,He has several archive pst files that are on the network which he cannot access.. It gives hime the message that it can not access(several) and sometimes locks up while he fumbles through the process. What would be the best way to handle this. Create a seperate profile for out of network? move his pst files to local machine and synchronize when online? run as is with no prompts? This guy is a bit impatient - to put it lighlty -10-12 cups of high octane coffee a day thanks for any suggestions- Carl |

MS Doesnt support the use of pst's over a network, it can & does lead to
corruption, move them to the local PC "NGReader" wrote in message ... I have a notebook user that has a complaint about when outlook opens while he is off network. Rather than go through the hassle of moving the .pst files to a local drive
(I know .pst files are unsupported on a network but my agency has been doing this without corruption for over a decade), why not just create a non-office profile, put his exchange account into that profile, and let it rebuild the ..ost before letting him out of the building? You will keep the network backup for the .pst files and since he is only using an offline cache of his exchange mailbox, his data is safe on your exchange server. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact.
