Default Outlook and POP3 server

I have oe setup on my network pc's. On the home edition, my newsgroups are
working fine. But on my xp pro. my outlook express has a problem. I can read
my newsletters fine. But I am unable to syncronize them, because of error. My
oc
says, POP3 server cannot be found. My question is, where would I go to get
help
with that problem?

Default Outlook and POP3 server

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97, 98, 2000, 2002 & 2003 from the
Office family for Intel PCs. For Outlook Express (OE) support try posting in
one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4.outlookexpress for OE 4.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlooke xpress for OE 5.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgro...-us;newsgroups
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlook express for OE 5.5x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgro...-us;newsgroups
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlooke xpress for OE 6.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgro...-us;newsgroups
microsoft.public.internet.mail.mac for the Macintosh version of OE
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgro...-us;newsgroups

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found he

I'll bite and ask a stupid question... you mention that you are trying to
work with POP3 accounts but I see a lot of references to "HTTP MAIL"
accounts that are also failing. Might consider removing all e-mail accounts
from Outlook and just keep the setup simple and try a single POP3 account
setup. Once you get it working, then add other accounts.

What else can we come up with... you really don't mention it, but did your
ISP outsource its e-mail to yahoo or are you trying to get a Yahoo Plus
account working? Reason I ask is that the "free" yahoo accounts don't allow
POP3 access.

Other than that, watch out for 3rd party security software that includes
personal firewall services. You might have to configure said product to
allow the executable "outlook.exe" to have internet access.

And to answer your questions, yes, you can uninstall Office/Outlook 2007 and
fall back to Outlook Express. Heck, you can continue using Outlook Express
even with Outlook 2007 installed.

/neo

PS - if you open a command prompt, can you ping pop.mail.yahoo.com and get 4
good responses? If you get an error message or no responses, then check
your internet connection first.

Clearly you have not specified the correct account type. Use POP/SMTP for
POP accounts. Yahoo doesn't support HTTP accounts. Moreover, if you have a
free Yahoo account, it doesn't support POP, either.
