Okay, I'm pretty frustrated right now. I had to do a full install of a new
operating system (Vista Business) earlier this month that was previously an Windows XP system. That also forced me to reinstall all of my applications (in some cases new versions). which also included reinstalling Office 2003 Pro. Of course nothing works the same any more. Upgrades will not install because of some obsecure Error Code 779. (separate issue and unresolved.) The newest problem is that all of my emails now generate an xmlns file that either adds a bunch of lines drawn at the bottom, or worse, attaches a file named "headers.htm" to the email. I'm using Word as the editor and sending in HTML format. Since I use this system for business (responding to questions from online students) , that attachment now gets my emails sent to the receivers Spam Box about 1/2 the time. How do I fix this? I've tried editing the "normal.dot", but Word does not permit me to save that file, because "it's in use". And Vista does not allow me access to the folder to save it under another name, then rename it later. -- Rick Adams |

It sounds like you have a header set in word. Close Outlook, verify word is
closed. Find the .dot file and open it in word for editing. I'm not sure if you need to edit normal.dot or the email .dot file - check both. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: You can access this newsgroup by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...s/default.mspx or point your newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com. Sorry, I see nothing in the .dot that causes this. I just looked at the code
in the attachment (header.htm) and it looks like Word is automatically trying to add Footnote Separaters at the end of the email. The css tag in the .htm attachment is titled 'mso-special-character:footnote-separator' and the added html code (4 times) is hr align=left size=1 width="33%". This is something new that started after I reinstalled Office. Not a clue what to look for and why it's being added automatically by Word. -- Rick Adams "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: It sounds like you have a header set in word. Somehow you did something that turned on footnotes. Or could it be review?

Diane, thank you for your reply. I've looked everywhere to see where
Footnotes or "Review" has been enabled, but I just can't find it. Any ideas? Office "Help" isn't much Help, but I expect that with MS Products. This is taking up way too much time for something that seems simple. I'm assuming this is a Toggle switch. Again .. thanks for your help so far. -- Rick Adams "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: Somehow you did something that turned on footnotes. Or could it be review?
