Default header.htm automatically generated for emails

Okay, I'm pretty frustrated right now. I had to do a full install of a new
operating system (Vista Business) earlier this month that was previously an
Windows XP system. That also forced me to reinstall all of my applications
(in some cases new versions). which also included reinstalling Office 2003
Pro. Of course nothing works the same any more. Upgrades will not install
because of some obsecure Error Code 779. (separate issue and unresolved.)

The newest problem is that all of my emails now generate an xmlns file that
either adds a bunch of lines drawn at the bottom, or worse, attaches a file
named "headers.htm" to the email. I'm using Word as the editor and sending
in HTML format.

Since I use this system for business (responding to questions from online
students) , that attachment now gets my emails sent to the receivers Spam Box
about 1/2 the time.

How do I fix this? I've tried editing the "normal.dot", but Word does not
permit me to save that file, because "it's in use". And Vista does not allow
me access to the folder to save it under another name, then rename it later.
