Default can't send email vial outlook 2003

I am having a similar problem that started on the 22nd (actually happened
once before a week earlier and by a fluke it started working again) and have
tried everything I can think of. I posted an original message a little while
ago before I noticed you'd had a similar problem. I'll be watching to see if
you work this out and I'll let you know if I find a solution. I read on
another forum another lady was having similar problems.

Hi,

I've been using outlook for years, and a couple of days ago
it stopped sending email. I can still receive email.

This is what I get when I send somthing:

550 relaying mail to email address is not allowed

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Thanks,

Mike

it's good to know I'm not the only one!
I tried taking down the firewall today, but
that didn't fix it.

By a fluke, we fixed it last night. I use McAfee Security Center but not the
firewall in McAfee (using ZoneAlarm). I keep the firewall in McAfee turned
off. While trying to fix the problem over the last 4 or 5 days, I would even
change my MSConfig settings so that McAfee didn't even load. Still no
positive results. Finally last night, we decided to completely uninstall the
security portion of McAfee and low and behold my e-mails starting poring
thru. So apparently, some recent update to McAfee has locked up the portal,
even though I had everything disabled. I'm just happy to be getting e-mails
again. I hope you are able to work out something similar on your end.

I'm on a different computer now,
thanks for the update.
I'm not using McAfee, just the firewall that
comes with XP, and AVG antivirus.
I haven't a clue what caused mine to stop sending.
Both the tower, and the laptop, can only
receive.
I got a new ISP today, thinking that was the
problem,
Verizon, I'm using it now. But its still the same
problem. In outlook express 6, and outlook 2003
it will receive, but not send. So I'm using
web based email until i fix it.

Let's see if this goes out!

This went out OK, so I can send to this newsgroup but not to anybody else.
There must be a clue in this.
I'm going to start a new thread with this info because this has been gong
for a while.
