Default Outlook issues...

Hi group,

So it seems like I have royally screwed up my outlook. Here are my
issues:

1. I set up my outlook from gmail and at one point it stopped
importing all my old messages. I tried to delete the profile and it
didn't work so I set up a new gmail account which worked. How do I get
rid of the old inbox that no longer receives messages? Its the one
that is under personal folders?

2. My outlook is automatically deleting emails. Sometimes if I'm fast
enough I can read them but other times they are just deleting. I have
no idea where the emails are going or how to make it stop. I'm an
unsaavy outlook-gmail user and am a bit confused about this whole IMAP/
POP3 issue. Can I retrieve the messages I've lost?

Is it best if I start over on the outlook process, if so how?

Any insight would be great!

Thanks,
Marlene

If the address you posted from is your real address you have now been added
to the spammers lists.
gmail is configured in Outlook as an IMAP account usually
If you set up a new Profile, as apposed to copying the old, your old data
files would not be available unless you added them.
So is your current Gmail acount shown in the outlook tree view folders list
as a Gmail folder (Imap) or as Personal folders (pop3)?

DL,

With all due respect, that is not necessarily true. I have posted
for years using a valid address in both the body and header fields and
have had no particular problem with spam.

plus gmail has a very good antispam filter. I posted with a gmail address
years ago and yes, it gets a lot of spam but very little hits my inbox.

Before we can give you any ideas on what might be happening, we need to know
how you configured the account - as imap or pop3.

Are you using antispam filters? Did you try using advanced find to search
the mail folders for the missing mail?

Hello! Thanks for all your responses!

The original account I set up was in POP3 form but the 2nd one I set
up was in IMAP.

When I went to gmail.com I figuired out that my email went to a junk
email folder automatically after being in my inbox folder. Not sure
how to fix that.

As for antispam filters, I only have the ones that gmail set up
automatically.

Something tells me that I incorrectly deleted the 1st profile which is
why its still under the Personal Folders tree. The 2nd gmail account
that actually works is under its own gmail tree.

I hope thats enough color to help. If not, please let me know what
else I should provide you with!

Thanks!
