Hi, I'm hoping someone might be able to help ...
I need to move emails out of Outlook and into various folders on my C drive. I have given it a try and when I drag an email out of Outlook and drop it into a folder on my C directory (viewed via an Explorer window), the email is listed with date created and date modified as the date I moved the email into the folder, not the date of the email itself. This makes it difficult to file or find specific emails. Is there any way of getting the emails to list with the actual original received date, just as they do when listed in Outlook? I'm not sure if I explained that very clearly ... here's hoping ... Oh and I'm using Outlook 2007 with an XP OS. |

All you're doing is creating a file, as far as the file system is concerned, and it records the time at which you allocated the space and created the file. The file system has no access to the information contained in the file. The contents of the file cannot affect the time when the file was created. A mail message if not a file until you make it one. Is there any way of getting the emails to list with the actual original received date, just as they do when listed in Outlook? No, unless you find a tool online that can poke whatever time stamps you want into the various fields of the file metadata.
