I thought I'd give Office 2010 beta a spin (I'm running W7 Dell x86
Office 2007) and after it had migrated my email accounts I couldn't get POP3 access to any of my Gmail accounts with Outlook. It seemed to only allow IMAP access. Anyway having enabled IMAP it downloaded several thousand messages that I didn't want and from then on went into 'Synchronising Folders' for the gmail accounts for an eternity - well I gave up after 27 minutes. I restarted and tried again but it just hangs on this synchronising. finally I gave up and went back to 2007 which happily uses POP3. Any ideas how/why 2010 doesn't support POP3 for Gmail or what this endless synchronising is and how to stop it? |

An imap account syncs with the imap server, so what you see in outlook will
be what you see on gmail web mail. So if you have multi thousands of msgs on gmail it will take a while to sync If you have integrated AV that may also cause problems Since OL2010 is a beta version ideally it should'nt be installed on your primary PC wrote in message ... outlook 2010 uses pop but you need to set it up yourself, you can't use the
autodiscovery feature - it will create imap. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com/ Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Poll: What version of Outlook do you use? http://forums.slipstick.com/showthread.php?t=27072 wrote in message ...
