Default Outlook XP (2002): "Unable to open default eamil folders."

Running Windows XP/SP3. Office XP. Had a system crash, ran recovery utility,
re-installed Office XP. All programs open and work EXCEPT Outlook. Problem 1)
Can't open any OFFICE program using taskbar icon or Start Menu icon, can
start by doing StartProgramsExcel (or whatever)--but this is a minor
annoyance. When I attempt to start Outlook, it looks like it starts to open
the window, but then I get the message, "Unable to open default email
folders". I get no further than this. Have uninstalled and re-installed
Office a couple of times. Ran Office XP update. Nothing.
I did un-install the trial version of Office 2003 before the OXP install.
Now that I think about it, Outlook 2003 version worked, but I didn't want to
use that for some reason, which I don't recall. I want OXP (2002) back
please. Thank you.
