Outlook has no native export/import of account settings
The Save Settings wizard available in various versions of win invariably causes issues with Outlook. "Steven Papier" wrote in message ... I'm running Outlook Exchange, and I would like to export my email account settings for several POP accounts from one computer to another. |

Has anyone tested simply doing an export of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles that stores Outlook settings and importing that into registry on another computer? PST files would have to be reconnected, but the rest of things should work. I'll test this. -- Leonid S. Even if you were able to export the Exchange account settings, they'd be no use to you for a POP account. What settings do you believe you need to export? -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

Now you say you're using POP. Why the inconsistency? Outlook has no way to export accounts. It's conceivable you could export the registry setting that Mr. Knyshov mentions, and add that to the registry on the other computer, but it will still require visiting each mail account and reestablishing the credentials because the passwords definitely do not transfer. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

I've been down this road as well and found nothing as Brian says. Spent more
time trying to find an "easy" way than it took to just do it. If your problem is you can't remember your passwords then you've got a real problem and you have to solve that first with your various providers. Nothing I know of will solve that for you. I actually created a small spreadsheet with all the variables, filled it in for each account the then re-created them on the new machine. IN addition to a manual method, there are free "password vaults" available on the Internet that will allow you to create a secure file where you can store your passwords and transfer that file to a new PC when needed. It won't fill in passwords, but it will allow you to remember them. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
