I have a problem with Outlook 2003 after migrating a site to Terminal
Services. If a user opens an email that is either RTF or HTML based, and tries to copy any of the text from that email to another document, be it a word document, a spreadsheet, a web page etc, both Outlook and the target program freeze for a period of time that can be anywhere from 15 to 60 seconds. If left to it's own devices, the paste will eventually work and Outlook will free itself up along with the target program. The same thing happens with printing, any RTF ot HTML based emails will take the same time frame before finally printing whilst freezing Outlook during this time. Obviously this delay is extremely frustrating to users and I have not been able to find out too much about what is going on, I have made sure that Word is not used as the default editor (tried using it and didn't help). The users all have fresh profiles on the TS and I have insured that Outlook cache mode is not set in any of their profiles. Plain text based emails are fine and work in all circumstances with no issue, hence pasting into notepad is fine. Previous to TS this site was using Outlook 2003 in a traditional server/client arrangement with no issues. The domain server is running SBS 2003 and MS Exchange. CPU on the TS climbs from about 2% normally to sit at around 40% during these 'freezes' and Task Manager shows Outlook is the culprit but nothing is entered into any of the event viewer logs. New emails can be created and sent with no delay, you can copy RTF and HTML text from one email to another without any delay. This problem affects ALL users on the TS irrespective of group membership, permissions or anything else, from the domain admin account down, whereas any users not in the TS environment are unaffected. Any thoughts appreciated since I am at a brick wall with it. -- Regards - Peter |
