Default No Check with SMTP Server

Win XP Home Edition
Office 2003

I have a friend using Outlook for his email client. He has three email
accounts that all provide email access through the server online.

He wants to configure Outlook so it does NOT check the SMTP servers for each
of these accounts when he uses Outlook for sending email or newsgroup
activity.

He found the option to leave the messages on the server, but does not even
want to download them (at least for now)

I know how to do it with Express but over the phone he was unable to find
any option anywhere with a similiar check box that says "Include this
account when receiving or synchronizing"

Would someone let me know where this option can be found?.

Thanks In Advance

Since Outlook doesn't "do" newsgroups (it uses Outlook Express for that),
there's nothing to do for news. For mail, while viewing the Inbox, press
ALT-CTRL-S to open the Send/Receive Groups dialogue box. If he doesn't want
any automatic send/receive, he can uncheck the options to perform automatic
send/receives. If he wants automatic send/receives for some accounts but
not for others, he can select the "All Accounts" send/receive group, click
Edit, select an account that shouldn't participate and uncheck the "Send
mail items" or "Receive mail items" as desired.
