Hi,
The issue you are experiencing can be caused by a mismatched version of the msoert2.dll file. Try remaming the file msoert2.dll to msoert2.old in the C:\Windows\System32 folder, then copying this file from the C:\Windows\System32\dllcache folder. Scott,
I tried your suggestion below and it did not resolve the problem for me. Do you have another suggestion on this issue? I had this same problem on my Microsoft XP machine with Outlook. I
discovered that it is a prolem with an Microsoft Cumulatiove Security Update for Outlook Express for Windows XP. My update id was KB911567. I found it in my Add/Remove Programs list of programs on my machine. I removed it and my Outlook began running normally. By the way, the MS is for Microsoft, the OE is Outlook Express, the RT is for Runtime, and the dll is for the dynamic link library. If you go to the Microsoft site and find the update for your Windows 2000 operating system, you may be able to try this workaround. I do not know if Microsoft knows how this patch affects Outlook users. |

I was having this same problem, and I followed this advice (uninstalling
KB911567) on my XP machine and now it refuses to boot. It will load up to the windows loading screen, and then *click* and the machine reboots. I've tried in safe mode, and the thing still won't boot. I'm assuming that I may have done something else to cause the problem, but thought someone might have an idea. |
