Default Can't Open Task Request nor Accept/Decline Assigned Taske

OL 2003 sp2, Win XP pro, no exchange.
Issue: A received Task Assignment can't be opened in the Inbox and when
viewed in the "read" pane, the Accept or Decline buttons are inactive. Thus,
unable to accept/decline assign task or get notified of task activity. This
started with update KB892843 in Jan 06 but was fixed when update manuall
removed. It has returned with update KB913807 on May 25. Havent tried
removing update & thought I'd ask whats going on before i removed. Research
MS KBase turns up nothing. Have several local installations with same
problem. Suggestions?

I am looking for an answer to this exact problem as well.

After completely uninstalling/reinstalling frontpage, onenote, and office
proffesional, I am unhappy to report that I still can't assign a task to my
subordinates and co-workers.

Even though I haven't re-installed any office updates, they must have
remained, or the damage is in my pst data file, registry, or user area...

I wish microsoft own up to their mistake and put out some technical
assistance on this issue. I have wasted a lot of time trying to resolve what
I believe to be a problem caused by a security update.

Paulb, I have found some limited help on this problem he

Maybe it will help you, but it wasn't enough for me
