Similar to another message, I am finding that Outlook continues to make
itself the default e-mail program even after I tell it not to (Tools Options Other). This is the Small Business edition of Office/Outlook but I am not on an exchange server as was the other case. I did not find a .prf profile to edit nor the the relevant keys exist in the registry. Any other suggestions for not having Outlook reclaim the position even when it is not suppose to. |

Use Control Panel- Internet Options- tab Programs instead
The option you are refering too is only for Outlook to check if it is the default and maintain it if another application "steals" it. Unticking that option still doesn't tell the OS which application to use instead so it uses the last default which in your case is Outlook. -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more ----- "Tod" wrote in message ... I suppose I didn't make myself clear. I use OE as my mail client. I would
like to use Outlook (small business edition) for contacts, calendars, notes, etc. But everytime I enter Outlook, it resets itself as the default e-mail program even though I do not have it checked to take on that role. Unless there is a way to stop it from resetting in this manner, I'll have to remember to do the "Control Panel- Internet Options- tab Programs " route after every Outlook visit. I have somewhat gathered this is a nuance with the SB edition but could be mistaken.
