I am using Office Pro 2007 (Beta) and Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition
(4.21.1088). Every time I connect my AXIM X50v to my laptop, I get the message to "Please Wait while Windows configures Windows Office Professional 2007 (Beta)" Then I get "Error 2711: An internal error has occurred (Outlook CD0)" Any idea what is going on here or how to fix it? Must I go to the newer version of Windows Mobile? -- Elliott |

If that's an error message about Collaboration Data Objects, it might be occurring because Outlook 2007 does not include CDO. It's a separate download -- http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en. Expect newer versions of sync software to work around this to provide better support for OL2007.

Sorry, but i have to admit that it is pretty lame for the Enterprise version
of Outlook2007 to be persistantly trying to configure Outlook at startup and have the install crash due to this CDO 2711 error. That is just plain sloppy. Doesn't anyone actually test this stuff? I can understand if the problem were other applications, but why does Outlook persist in this? And why, having seen this error in the beta, would Microsoft distribute production copies of the code with this very visible error. It is quite embarrasing and I am reluctant to let any customer see this built-in flaw. -- Greg Latiak "Sue Mosher [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: If that's an error message about Collaboration Data Objects, it might be occurring because Outlook 2007 does not include CDO. By the way, the CDO download does NOT rectify the problem. Installing this
add-on does not correct the problem. And unfortunately, the installer does not log any of this in the application or system error logs. -- Greg Latiak "Greg Latiak" wrote: Sorry, but i have to admit that it is pretty lame for the Enterprise version of Outlook2007 to be persistantly trying to configure Outlook at startup and have the install crash due to this CDO 2711 error. So what other addins do you have installed?
Office 2007 RTM icw WMDC on itself doesn't provide this error. Note that Microsoft doesn't control 3rd party code, so if that faulty code is crashing Outlook, how is that sloppy on Microsoft's part? -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more http://www.msoutlook.info/ Real World Questions, Real World Answers ----- "Greg Latiak" wrote in message ... Just to re-iterate the problem so hopefully what is crashing is clear. When I
start Outlook 2007 a Windows Installer Box labeled 'Microsoft Office Enterprise' box comes up, announces that it is configuring Outlook, then crashes with Error 2711, an internal error has occurred (OutlookCDO). This occurs after Outlook is open and has synched its folders -- and I have Exchange Unified Messaging COM addin, Groove proxy, Sharepoint and so forth. I am most surprised that nothing gets logged to the error logs even though the existance of the message box shows that the error was trapped. Outlook itself does not crash, it is the Windows installer that crashes, doing something 'configuring Outlook'. Yes, I know the old flame line about MS does not control 3rd party, etc. Doesn't wash if they are writing in languages developed by MS using interfaces exposed by MS in an application written by MS -- I expect a reasonable level of defensive programming just to protect the end users data from poorly written code. Sorry, if you can build an OS you can trap an application error and provide a reasonable amount of diagnostic information. And deliberately removing a feature and not providing a condition handler to deal with downstream damage is not very clever. Far easier to flame anyone who complains... -- Greg Latiak "Roady [MVP]" wrote: So what other addins do you have installed? Office 2007 RTM icw WMDC on itself doesn't provide this error. Sorry. But has anyone ever posted a way to fix this? I am using Outlook
2007, and I get the same message every time I open the program. "Elliott J" wrote: I am using Office Pro 2007 (Beta) and Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition (4.21.1088).
