Default rules and alerts not working

I have sub folders in the inbox and use rules and alerts to direct e-mails
incoming and outgoing to file e-mail.

Presently, e-mails received that I have a rule that directs that e-mail to a
sub folder does not work, e-mail remains in the inbox. I have tried to delete
all rules and alerts and start over again, but no such action is currently
allowed.

Question, how does one activate and employ rules and alerts?

Care to state the exact rule and give an example of a message that you
believe that rule should act upon?

Start Outlook once with the /cleanrules command line switch to delete all
rules and start over again.

Put a check in the box in front of the rule in the Rules Wizard.

Are you connected to an Exchange server? If so, speak the the Exchange
admins. If not, create a new PST, make it your delivery location, then copy
the contents of the old PST to the new one. The rules are in a hidden
folder in the PST and by creating a new PST you should get a clean rules
folder.

Perhaps the Exchange newsgroups are your next stop.
