Default Outlook Profile AutoConfig

Sorry to jump in here but Sue can you tell me something in regards to this.
I can get the .prf file to setup the initial account for the person that
first logs into a specific machine, but any users that log into the machine
after that, it seems that the .prf file/setting do not take affect on them.
How do I get the .prf file to set for all or any users that log into that
same machine. For example, I log into this machine and my settings in the
..prf file work fine it associates my username to my exchange account and
names the profile name what I set it to, but then if lets say you log into
that same machine, you have to go through the account creation wizard, how
can i get it so that the settings I set in my .prf file work on all users.
Any help would be appreciated., Thanks.

Outlook can't evaluate an environment variable that you specify for the name of the profile. You'll need to supply the exact name you want to use.

FWIW, the recommended scenario is to use separate Windows profiles for all users and the same Outlook mail profile name. They won't conflict because each is specific to a certain Windows login.

Hello, I'm trying to have the end users email automatically configure upon
opening mail. There are current users with profiles on the PC and I want to
configure any new users automatically without changing the original users
profile. I can get it to configure a new profile for a new user, but it is a
default profile that affects all new users. I would like to use a default to
initially configure but to save these settings in a profile called %UserName%
so as not to affect others. Is this possible?

I'm using Custom Maintanance Wizard to make the changes.

How did you deploy the PRF file? If you deploy a PRF file with the CIW, it should be invoked the first time *any* user logs onto the machine.

that is. I applied the .prf file ijn the CIW that is why I am not
understanding why it is not taking for "all profiles, it only sticks for the
person who is logged in while it is installing.

I don't know either. I've tried to reproduce that scenario, but without success.

After the second person logs in, have you checked their registry for the ImportPRF, First-Run and FirstRun values that Outlook uses to determine whether (and from what info) it needs to create a new mail profile?
