I would have to agree with the question about Outlooks compatability with
IMAP, versus Outlook Express's compatability. I read this thread, and got a solution to the questions that I was wondering. My point would be that OE is supposed to be a watered down version of Outlook, as it is specifically for e-mail, and doesn't contain calenders etc. Yet an IMAP account in OE will automatically send a message sent through it to the IMAP's Sent Folder, and non-IMAP's send them to the local Sent Folder. Yet Outlook doesn't. Recommend that this is an upgrade made to the next version of Outlook, if it hasn't already. I would have very much preferred to have then in one email application. True, Plaxo does a great job in syncronsying my address between the two applications, but it is not my preferred way of doing things. It still bewilders me, why MS doesn't allow the same level of IMAP functionality in its O as it does with its OE. Dear Athena, Creating a "copy" rule will raise the problem of havin your sent emails in a duplicate set. One in the IMAP sent folder and the other in the PST sent folder. I tried to look for a "delete" rule to delete the copy in the PST sent folder. But couldn't find such an option. Is there such a rule? And why is Outlook Express so much better in dealing with IMAP accounts than Outlook. Can't some of these features of automatic creation of sent and draft folders be incorporated into Outlook? regards, Firas. "Athena [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: As you have discovered, Outlook won't let you store the official sent item copy in the IMAP folder. You *can* create a rule though that will automatically create a copy and file that in the IMAP store. Start with a blank rule and check messages after sending. Use the sending account as the basis for the rule and copy the message to the Sent Item folder in your IMAP store. -- Athena [MVP] "Barattolo_67" wrote: For managing my email, I connect to my provider's IMAP server. Is there a way to configure Outlook 2003 so that when you send a message it gets stored in the IMAP server's "Sent Items" folder and not in the Outlook's Personal Folder's "Sent Item." It is annoying to have to move the message manually after you have sent it, but if you do not do it, then you do not have that folder sincronyzed as well. |

OE was never intended to be a "watered down" version of Outlook. Recommend that this is an upgrade made to the next version of Outlook, if it hasn't already. There are some IMAP improvements in Outlook 2007, or so I've read. -- Brian Tillman |
