Hello,
We're currently in the process of migrating our Office 2000 environment to Office 2003. During the roll-out we encountered an issue we didn't experience in any of our tests before. It seems that the "Outlook Virus Security" Setting, which allows you to disable the pop-up you get when an Outlook Form tries to access your address book, is ignored or not applied correctly when you use Cached Exchange Mode and a "different from setup install image" menu language by using the Language Selector. Let me describe our situation to better illustrate the problem. The installed version of Office 2003 is based on the Office 2003 English image. After installation, the language is modified to Dutch by using the Language Selector tool. When configuring the MAPI account, Cached Exchange Mode is enabled. When a user tries to open an Outlook Form in a Public Folder that uses the e-mail addresses from your address book, a dialog box pop-ups requesting permission for this action for 1, 2, or more minutes. This behaviour has previously been controlled by using an Outlook Security Template and the Group Policy setting "Outlook Virus Security Settings" that points to the correct public folder. However, when running in Dutch WITH Cached Exchanged Mode, the dialog box pop-ups still appear. When changing the Office 2003 Language Settings to English OR when disabling the Cached Exchange Mode, the dialog box pop-ups are correctly disabled. I haven't been able to find a correct explanation for this behaviour, and more importantly, not a working solution. The first thing that comes to mind is to install the Dutch based setup install image, but we don't really like to do that since we are catering for both English as well as Dutch users and would like to keep the installations based on the same install image. Can anyone give us any feedback on this please ? Thanks, Jo |
