Default Outlook2003 should not crash when changing settings

When wanting to change a setting configured via a drop down (read only combo)
box, my outlook 2003 crashes with an 'Unhandled Exception : outlook.exe
(user32.dll): 0xC0000005: Access Violation' error message.

This goes for any settings. Even when configuring email related settings via
the control panel, the used cpl crashes.

From the event viewer:
Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.8010.0, faulting module
user32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2622, fault address 0x000529a6.

I've tried to reinstall office - to no avail, as expected.

I'm running XP SP2 with all updates applied.

Any suggestions are welcome, except reinstalling XP - I would REALLY REALLY
hate doing that - I've a lot of software installed and it would take me
several days to get back in business.

Hi Jdall,

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I'm also encountering the same
issue with Outlook 2003 and am needing some help on how to resolve it without
having to reformat the hd. any help would be appreciated.
