We use CIW and OPS file to create a custom Office 2003 package used to
install Outlook 2003 only. We're upgrading from Outlook 2002. When upgrading from Outlook 2002, I found out that user signatures are gone even if I checked the Migrate User Settings box in CIW. After investigtation I found that the OPS file used to configure User settings contains code that delete the content of the signatures folder in the user profile. When I created the OPS file with the Profile Wizard, I only checked the Outlook settings box, but there's also code in the OPS file that delete folders in the user profiles related to other product like Word and Excel, not good, since we only want to upgrade to Outlook 2003 and keep Word, Excel and Powerpoint 2002. I used the OPS File Viewer to find this, the problem is that I cannot modify the OPS file directly with this tool, I did not find any OPS File editor. The OPS file itself cannot be modified using a text editor. Help please. |

YOu would need to modify not the .ops file but the .ini file that drives creation of the .ops file by the wizard. Make a copy of the opw11adm.ini found in the ORK11\TOOLS\Profile Wizard folder and open it in Notepad. The structure is pretty easy to figure out. Invoke your custom .ini file by starting the Office Profile Wizard with the /i command line switch.
