Default Choice of default exchange server.

We had a 5.5 exchange server(named mail), and then we added a second exchange
server running exchange 2003 (named mail1). We have since removed the server
named mail and are running off of mail1 for the last 4 months.
My problem is that when I add a new user the default exchange server in
Outlook is still mail. When do I go to reset the server name? I'm running a
one person shop with 60 users and I've only been on the job for 3 months.
Please Help.

How does your site deploy Office/Outlook? Might also want to mention what
version since the best I can say is look for a file with a *.PRF extension.
This file can be opened in notepad and you can change the entry. From here
you would have to figure out how to copy this file out to existing machines.

If you don't want to go this route, go into DNS and make a CNAME (alias)
entry named MAIL and point it to MAIL1. Just be aware that you can't have
another workstation/server on the network with the name MAIL.
