I maintain our corporate images for XP SP2. Is it possible to -completely-
remove Outlook Express from XP SP2 machines? I found KB article number 263837 that explains how to remove AND reinstall it. We use Lotus Notes for corporate email, not Exchange. I have already done the usual Add/Remove programs and 'removed' it from our machines but there are still twelve files located at c:\program files\outlook express. The files that I can delete manually, just do a self-heal procedure and quickly get replaced by the O.S. MY manager wants outlook express 'removed completely'. Can this be done? If so, how? Can I just follow article 263837 and not do the 'reinstall Outlook Express' section ? Will this introduce problems with the OS? Thanks, Rob |

This isn't a Microsoft Outlook question, but to push you in the right
direction. Are you saying that in your unattended.txt (winnt.sif) file that you set OEACCESS = Off in the components section and that there are still remnants left after operating system install? /neo PS - This is truly a Windows XP deployment question. If you ever do manage to completely remove OE, Outlook will cease to function because it uses some of OE's DLLs. -- Brian Tillman |
