i saw many post on this problem ,but no fix. i did try the windows
installer clean up too.
my problem is i want to give a computer to someone and need to remove
the second hard rive .
i now need all the programs and files on the original c drive, i was
trying to install outlook 2002 on the c drive and i get the
installation source not available pop up. i have the original cd,
outlook 2002 works fine on the machine as it is now with it installed
on the second drive. i ran the detect and repair , no problems.

Ususally an installation source error means a damaged installation. Office
programs are reliant on the hardware, so if you install it on one harddrive
and then replace that drive, Office will not work because it's only half
there.

You mention 2 computers; which one is having the installation source problem?

its a dell dimension 4550 winxp , outlook 2002 seems to run fine on it. i was deleting a lot of stuff to try and clean the computer up to give away, i may have deleted a important file(obviously). i was going to remove the second hard drive and try and install all the programs on the original c drive.

i put the hard drive back in and all seems to work OK except i cant
reinstall outlook on the c drive
