Hi there, I am currently using Outlook 2002.
I have been using earthlink as my ISP ) and just yesterday changed to sbcglobal ). After a lot of work I got the DSL modem hooked up and can go online, can receive e-mail but am unable to send it. I intend to keep the earthlink account for 12 months until I am able to get all of my contacts changed over. Ideally I would like to use an e-mail address attached to my webpage: ) to receive ALL e-mail. I went to "tools", then "e-mail accounts", and then added the new account. Somewhere in adding the new account and trying to change the existing account I am now able to receive e-mail but not to send it. When I do "test settings" it will pass everything but sending the test e-mail. I am writing to Outlook as everything else with the new modem and account appears to be working except Outlook. Can you help me? The POP3 and SMTP addresses were the ones the DSL installer gave me. Do I need to change the POP3 and SMTP incoming and outgoing addresses for the earthlink account since I no longer use their service? Please help!! Lisa Costello |

If so, you've guaranteed those addresses will be harvested and used for spam and viruses. Never post real addresses in newsgroups. HI again,
I sure hope those are not real addresses you've posted. If so, you've guaranteed those addresses will be harvested and used for spam and viruses. Never post real addresses in newsgroups. I had no idea. Great. I know just enough to use my computer for e-mail and a few programs. You need to authenticate to the outgoing server. On the Outgoing Server tab of the account properties pages, check the box that says "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication". This was already done and I unchecked it and checked it again...it didn't work. I am still unable to send e-mail. If you don't intend to ever use the Earthlink account again, why not delete it from Outlook? I am still receiving 99.9% of my e-mail to that address. It will take me time to change it over. I still do not know how to get my sbcglobal e-mail directed to my web page address. Any other thoughts on why my e-mail can't be sent? I am figuring it must be in the POP3 or SMTP addresses. Lisa |

I'm not sure what you mean by this. -- Brian Tillman |
