Hello. When I try to configure my Outlook 2007 client(RTM-version) I get the
following error message: "The connection to Microsoft exchange is unavailable. Outlook must either be online or connected to complete this action" I am constantly being prompted to login to the Exchange server even if I have already logged in to our LAN. I use the same password and account as when I log in to the domain, but Exchange will not accept it. The description of the problem in kb927481 do not apply because we do not run Exchange 2007 and I do not have the registry setting described in that article. I am running Windows XP SP2 with all the released patches after that. My machine have runned Office 2003 before and I tried to upgrade first. Any ideas? Kind regards Thomas |

Have you tried creating a new mail profile via the mail applet in the
control panel? (don't copy the existing one. create new and try it before deleting the old one.) "Thomas Ivarsson" wrote in message ... Hello. Yes, I have tried to create a new profile but I will be promted for login and
password(to the domain) in the same way as when I try to configure Outlook 2007. The same error message appear. In the dialoge, add new email account/online serach for your server settings it stops with error in the third step(Log on to server) Regards Thomas Ivarsson "neo [mvp outlook]" wrote: Have you tried creating a new mail profile via the mail applet in the control panel? Weird. The computer you are setting up the profile on, is it joined to the
same domain the exchange server is in? "Thomas Ivarsson" wrote in message ... Exactly. I am not crossing any domains. We have the domain controller (AD) on
one server and Exchange 2003(with all the latest pacthes) on another. I have another partition on my laptop with Windows 2003 server SP1 and installed Office 2007 on that as well. The same negative result appears. The partition is joined to the LAN with a separate machine name. I have checked the event handler on my laptop and there are no error messages. Thank's for your attention. Thomas Ivarsson "neo [mvp outlook]" wrote: Weird. The computer you are setting up the profile on, is it joined to the same domain the exchange server is in? When you create the mail profile via the mail applet, go into the advanced
section (more settings) security tab. Try unchecking the box to encrypt data between the server and you as well as reconfigure logon security from kerberos/ntlm to just plain ol' ntlm. /neo "Thomas Ivarsson" wrote in message ... Exactly. Thank's neo. I will try this after the Holidays as well as installing on
another machine and use another user account. This problem is finally solved. Our Exchange server was previously a domain
controller. See KB927612 . "Thomas Ivarsson" wrote: Thank's neo. I will try this after the Holidays as well as installing on another machine and use another user account.
