hey folks

i just moved over from 2002, using the slipstick (?) artcile - placing the
PST and other files in the correct locations.

It seems i may have a corruption (someone said i do) - because i have 2
folder called "personal folder" in my folder list - both are IDENTICAL.

either way - my outlook told me today that my PST is full, and i should
consider using the new Outlook 2003 folder system because it allows for more
space. i;d love to do that!

Can someone point me in the right direction of how to do this properly -
- maintain multiple PST files
- conserve Contacts
- main rules, nick lists, signatures and all other valuable usaeble data

The pst can be located anywhere on your HD, there is no particular 'correct
location' only the default location
Overwriting an existing pst can lead to corruption.

With OL closed, use the mail applet in the control panel to create a new
profile and data file.
Add your accounts
In OL, FileOpenbrowse to your OL2002 pst and open.
Copy data from old to new
Close old when completed

No. You must do that yourself or use a tool like

It's better if you do, but the Office Save My Settings wizard may be able to
save the account data.

conversion is something i would need...

There are other differences as well, the increased capacity being amoung the
most significant.

you know - all the rules, addresses that come up automatically etc...

I'd export the rules and reimport them after converting. AutoCompletion can
be saved. Copy the NK2 file in %AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook and name it to
match the mail profile name. I don't know what you have in mind with the
"etc..."

Something in what you did corrupted your mail profile and the Sliptick
instructions wouldn't have done that. You need a new profile.

one being the default as now, and another into which you can move data to
keep the default folders smaller. You can also use autoarchive, which will
move older messages from your default folders into another PST, keeping your
default folders cleaner.

Organize them in whatever way pleases you.

my main objective is to have the PSTs convert to 2003 format without losing

Hi Brian

I have done what you suggested etc, and imported the main PST into a new
profile.
But when i check the properties for the imported personal folder - it still
says that its a 97-2002 PST (not 2003)
so it seems i am back to square one.

Also - when i try change the mail delivery location from the original PST to
the new one- i get a warning that i will no longer have Unicode multilingual
supprt - which i think i need, as i use Hebrew a lot as well.

Am i doing this correctly?
