Default Unable to send - Outlook 2003

Hi,

Try changing the User Name field under Logon Info to either complete email
address or email id (whichever is appicable) and try to send a test email in
Outlook.

You could also try the steps in the link below -

Btinternet account. Followed all instructions regarding setting up in
Outlook 2003. SMTP Authentication is required so I checked the box. The SSL
buttons are unchecked as per their instruction. All other fields are
correctly filled. When trying the 'test account settings' it keeps coming up
with 'enter network password' I have re-entered it a dozen times but it
always fails.
The error is -- "send test email message: Outlook could not connect to the
outgoing SMTP mail server because the server did not accept your user nam or
password"
I can receive ok and via the web can send & receive

I am currently out of my mind but please feel free to leave a message

Thanks for the response.
My user name is my complete email address but i have tried with variations.

I have disabled 'email scanner in AVg - no different.
I am connectiong through adsl with telefonica in spain and tried my adsl
logon details too. - no different.
In Outlook, under outgoing server I have checked the box to use same
settings as incoming server.
I appreciate any further help you can give. According to the Btinternet help
site all my settings are correct

Hi,

Have you tried the steps in the link provided earlier?
Try doing it if you haven't tried to modify the registry mentioned in the
article.
If after the process it still doesn't work, remove the account from Outlook.
Then configure the same settings in the Outlook Express program. Try test
emails and check if it works there.
If it does, open Outlook and import the settings directly from Outlook
Express.
Let me know if these helps you.
