Default outlook 2000

I get an error saying that outlook cannot access my internet e-mail account.
If i turn off exchange server it will work. any help or suggestions

If I recall, Outlook 2000 can have problems when both Exchange and SMTP
accounts are configured in the same mail profile, but I can't find the
article that I thought documented that.

Per Brian's post, Exchange and POP3 will mostly work, but there are
limitations; it is not a supported configuration:
