Default Windows XP SP2 64 bit o/s and outlook over Internet

We have an Exchange server 2003 setup to accept http connections from remote
Outlook 2003 SP2 clients. All of our WindowsXP 32 bit users have no trouble
setting up and accessing their mailboxes over the Internet using Outlook. We
have one WindowsXP SP2 64 bit computer that will not access the user's
mailbox. We modified the registry to add the RPC timeout settings in KB
831060, we installed the certificate, we configured Outlook identically to
the the other workstations. When we launch Outlook, it repeatedly asks us to
logon. We use basic authentication. Is this a lost cause or is it possible to
use Outlook 2003 over http to connect to Exchange?
Any help with this is TRULY appreciated!
Thanks, Aidan
