I am running outlook 2003 on Vista business ed. After setting up my email
account and test the settings, I cannot log into the pop3 server to retrieve my email. All settings (usernam/passwords/server addresses) have been checked and triple checked. When I try to test the settings, all items are successful except log into pop3 server. I will prompt me for my password, which I type in again, but it fails. There are no errors on the mail server and I am able to log into my web portal just fine. |

I had the same issue. It depends on what isp you are using.Tell me which one.
You can also go to the search and get the correct settings. I cannot send emails with Vista. Keep getting a message that says there is a "messenging interface error". Any thoughts "lkinninmont" wrote: I am running outlook 2003 on Vista business ed. After setting up my email account and test the settings, I cannot log into the pop3 server to retrieve my email. I have exactly the same problem after upgrading from XP to Vista. Outlook
sends mail but prompts for a "network password" before receiving. Entering the username and pasword for the ISP does not work. Very frustrating and using webmail to retrieve Outlook messages is only a short-term solution. I have tried switching off firewalls and even anti-virus programmes - it makes no difference. My ISP provider tried to help but finally gave up. Would I obviate the problem by moving up to Outlook 2007? Am I dealing with security issue within Vista? Would like not to have to do this (expensive). Any help would be appreciated "beemer8585" wrote: I had the same issue. It depends on what isp you are using.Tell me which one.
