i have tons of mails. i'm archiving them, but i need to visualize them in the
same folder as recently received emails, i.e. i'd like to have one mailbox
displaying both new and old/archived items. is that possible?

Not possible. The arechives are separate folder sets entirely. You can
have your default folders and your archives both open, but you'll have to
switch between the folders.
