Default Had 2003 60 day, not activated, installing 2007 -gives invalid ke

I had the 2003 that requires activation after 60 day trial. I removed all the
2003 programs I could find. When I try to install the 2007 office basic disk
it will not accept the key code?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
