i'd like to run outlook from an external HD. This will allow me to use my
laptop or desktop and have access to all my outlook files (inbox, pst folders, contacts, sent items, etc.) Is this possible? If so do i simply move the files to the external drive and then remap each machine's outlook to point to the external drive? (Outlook 2003) |

You can, with OL closed, move the pst. When OL is opened it will complain
and you will have to point it to the pst "tdote" wrote in message ... i'd like to run outlook from an external HD. (Outlook 2003) You can certainly install the actual Office programs on an external drive, but that doesn't make them portable. Many of Office's support files must reside on the boot disk (DLLs, settings files, etc.). -- Brian Tillman |

thank you for the feedback. I'm not looking to install the applications to
the external drive, just store the data files there. sounds like you think this might cause issues "Brian Tillman" wrote: tdote wrote: i'd like to run outlook from an external HD. Hi tdote,
I'm keen to do the same thing ... did you manage to get it going? Any traps for the uninitiated? Cheers pk "tdote" wrote: i'd like to run outlook from an external HD.
