I am currently using Outlook 2000 for email. My current ISP, Road Runner, is
being acquired by Comcast. I have attempted to configure Outlook to receive email from Comcast, but to avail. Comcast prefers that I use port server number 587 instead of 25. How do I configure Outlook to accept port server 587? Comcast does not support Outlook 2000; instead they prefer that I use Outlook Express. What do you suggest I do to continue using 2000? Thank you, |

In Outlook you go to Account Properties\Advanced and change the port to 587 there.
If Comcast does not support Outlook then there is a reason for it. Have you asked. Unfortunately I have no idea about Comcast so I cannot help you there. Possibility is that their mail is IMAP format -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. Leesha,
Try using Port "465" w/o quotes, and make sure that you check the box for SSL connection, on the advance settings tab for your Comcast account. -- Have A Good Day Rich/rerat Add MS to your News Reader: news://msnews.microsoft.com (RRR News) message rule Previous Text Snipped to Save Bandwidth When Appropriate "Leesha" wrote in message ...
