Unfortuanatly, I had to downgrade my machine back to XP Pro. I was able to
make a clone of my entire drive to Firewire before reformating and reinstalling. What I seem unable to to is resurrect my original Outlook ID/saved mails, contacts etc. (Outlook 2007 installed now). I'm a bit at a loss, and would appreciate one of the Outlook MVP's popping me an email to help me out. We can discuss doing a 'live help' thing....I have listed my "v-dash" vendor acct. email to decipher ![]() v-daveg thanks. dave |

Questions asked in the news groups are answered in the news group. Most MVPs I know support private inquiries via a paid per incident. I know I do.
If you locate your saved .pst file and use Outlook's File-open-outlook data file, you should have everything you need to get Outlook up and running. Caveat - do not place the .pst file in the default location and never overwrite another .pst file. Place it in a folder that you back up often like My Documents. Outlook does not care where you put the .pst file - I have had mine on a second hard drive (data drive) for 8 years. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Dave, Milly's quite right - the PST file (Outlook folder) should be somewhere
on your firewire drive... Good luck finding it! (It's usually called outlook.pst if you accepted all the defaults and didn't make your own pst to love and cherish). If you can find it, it should contain everything relating to your Outlook configuration, including contacts, sent items, etc. Unless it's corrupt, in which case, scanpst may be able to recover some bits of flotsam and jetsam for you. Unfortunately, your login details and so on won't have been saved, unless you copied across your Vista Registry settings (and I've only been lightly burned by Vista, so I don't know if that's even possible). If so, you may need to dig through the registry looking for your login ID or mailserver names or another string unique to that part of the Outlook setup. Smarter people may be able to give you better answers... -- Data is not Information; Information is not Knowledge; Knowledge is not Wisdom.
