I installed Outlook 2000 over Outlook Express 2003. That did not work so I
uninstalled Outlook 2000 and installed Outlook 2003 over the still installed Outlook Express 2003. Now I have Outlook 2003 up, Outlook Express looks like it's gone, the settings came over correctly according to the ISP and all the Outlook tests run OK. But I can not send nor receive messages. At this point I am thinking I will write down the Outlook settings, uninstall Office 2003 (and Outlook 2003), make sure Office 2003 is gone in all forms and then do a clean install of Office 2003 (and Outlook 2003). Does that sound reasonable? Any suggestions? How do I get my old data (email, calendar, etc.) into Office 2003 from a clean install? Thank you for your help! |

There is no OE2003 - there is OE6, OE7 (and earlier versions)
OE is part of internet explorer and is a completely seperate program to Outlook There is no upgrade of OE to Outlook, though you can install OL as a seperate program. Assuming you installed Outlook 2003 and configured the accounts & ran the Test Accounts option, was this successful? Where the test msgs visible in OL? What happens when you try to send a msg, to eg yourself? Old data, depends whether you are refering to Outlook Express msgs or what, since you stated OL wasnt working. "Sunset" wrote in message ... ![]() I figured this one out. In the past when I have upgraded Microsoft programs I have installed the new software and the Micorosoft installer has removed the old programs. When everything else failed, I checked Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs and found Microsoft Office 2003 Basic was still installed. I removed all Office software from the computer and reinstalled Microsoft Office 2003 Professional from scratch. Everything is working now. Thank you. A very impressive thing happened. After all the sofware was removed and Micosoft Office 2003 Professional was re-installed, my personal configuration data came up in the new Office install. And it worked! Very impressive! That's because the mail profile that contains your account information and references to your folders is in the Windows Registry and is not affected by uninstalling or installing Outlook. -- Brian Tillman |
