I created a new prf file with the following settings: ; ************************************************** ************ ; Section 1 - Profile Defaults ; ************************************************** ************ [General] Custom=1 DefaultProfile=Yes OverwriteProfile=Append ModifyDefaultProfileIfPresent=TRUE ; ************************************************** ************ ; Section 2 - Services in Profile ; ************************************************** ************ [Service List] ServiceX=Microsoft Outlook Client ServiceEGS=Exchange Global Section ;************************************************* ************** ; Section 4 - Default values for each service. ;************************************************* ************** [ServiceEGS] [ServiceX] DoAutoArchive=True AutoArchiveFileName = d:\outlook\archive.pst ;************************************************* ************** ; Section 5 - Values for each internet account. ;************************************************* ************** ;************************************************* ************** ; Section 6 - Mapping for profile properties ;************************************************* ************** ;sections of the .prf file removed for brevity. [Microsoft Outlook Client] SectionGUID=0a0d020000000000c000000000000046 FormDirectoryPage=PT_STRING8,0x0270 WebServicesLocation=PT_STRING8,0x0271 ComposeWithWebServices=PT_BOOLEAN,0x0272 PromptWhenUsingWebServices=PT_BOOLEAN,0x0273 OpenWithWebServices=PT_BOOLEAN,0x0274 CachedExchangeMode=PT_LONG,0x041f CachedExchangeSlowDetect=PT_BOOLEAN,0x0420 DoAutoArchive=PT_BOOLEAN,0x0320 AutoArchiveFileName=PT_STRING8,0x0324 ================================================== =========== Then I apply the PRf file with outlook.exe /importprf c:\temp\outlook.prf but nothing happens. Thomas,
I created a new .prf file and added the changes you listed below. I could not repro your issue in either Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007. In both cases, the archive.pst path was changed from the default "documents and settings" path to the .prf specified path of C:\Archive.pst. - Which version + service pack of Outlook are you using? - Can you provide more details on your topology? - How did you generate the "raw" .prf file? - Is that the entire text of your .prf file? I see the note about "sections removed for brevity", but I have to ask anyway. - Does the path D:\Outlook exist prior to your application of the .prf file? -- thanks greg mansius [MSFT] Microsoft Office Outlook Support This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Is it possible to reproduce this thru the installation of Office
2007 ? I am trying to find out a way to customize the location of the Archive.PST . I've tried setting the FORCEOST and FORCEPST Options thru the setup.exe /admin, but that doesn't seem to affect the location of the archive.pst , only any "new" .PST that I try and create. Do I need to apply a prf to all my Outlook's in order to do this ? Just curious! Thanks -DanL |

If you want to use the Office Customization Tool for Office 2007 or the CIW
for Office 2003, you have to: 1. Configure the Outlook profile settings using the interface provided in the tool 2. Click the "Export" option on the 3rd page of the profile settings 3. Manually modify the .prf file using the previously provided modifications to the .prf 4. In the OCT or CIW go back to the first dialog for Outlook profile settings (where you see the options for "Modify" "New" and "using specified ..prf" 5. Select the "use specified .prf" option and browse to the .prf file you modified in step 3 6. Deploy Office using the .msp (for Office 2007) or the .mst (for Office 2003) Hope this helps. -- Thanks greg mansius [MSFT] Microsoft Office Outlook Support This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
