Default Can't see Tasks in any 'To Do' views, and no Task reminders (OL-20

Though tasks appear in the "Tasks" folder and on the "Outlook Today" views,
they don't show up on the "Calendar" view in the To Do Bar (right side) or
the Tasks strip (bottom center, under the appointments calendar). Have
already tried enabling the "Display reminders and tasks from this folder in
the To Do Bar" option in the Properties for the Personal Folder that contains
everything (what they tell you to do to .pst files to get tasks to show up in
To Do and to enable reminders for them); didn't work, despite several
attempts that included closing Outlook each time between turning the option
on and off. Also tried doing an install repair to Outlook, followed by a
reboot...but nada. I'm running 'Vista Ultimate' on an HP Pavilion
Entertainment notebook with AMD Turion 64x2 processor, and using data
imported from my Outlook 2003 version. Any help would most certainly be
appreciated!

I have the same problem so I am watching this space with interest. So far
you seem to have hit a dry well?

Yep, I still have the problem! I've already missed a number of work-critical
deadlines because the reminder alarms aren't happening! So far, no answers
from this post...not sure if that's because nobody else has the problem
(except you and me), they have it but haven't fixed it, or no one reads these
posts. I'm planning to contact MS tech for help in the next day or two when
I have enough time to sit down and wait on hold for a half hour. If I get
the answer, I'll post it here for you and any others with the same malady.
Thanks for adding your voice!

I just spent a couple of hours on the phone to India about this and they have
solved my problem. In the end, I had to create a new Profile. This involved
the following as far as I can remember:
Go to Start|Outlook and right click on that icon.
Select Properties
Note down all (emphasize all) the properties for your current Outlook
account including those under the Advanced Tab
Select Change Profiles
Create a new profile and work through the settings, plugging in your old
settings.
Set Outlook up to open with the new profile
When you open the new profile you then go to File | Import and Export and
import your old pst file data.

In my case that restored the whole thing to fully function.

I hope this helps.

You should NEVER import from a PST. You lose data and you can corrupt your
mail profile. Simply reuse that PST in the new mail profile.

Ah, THERE you are. Bryan. :-) Yes, that is what I should have said - I was
just trying to indicate what we did from memory, obviously addled.

Thanks, Barrie (and Brian)! I haven't had a chance in the past few days to
sit down and attempt this fix, but I'm looking forward to doing so soon. If
it worked for you, then I'm guessing it will do the trick for me, too. I'll
post back here (hopefully within the next 5-7 days) to let you know how it
went. Sharing the remedy that you spent several hours getting is greatly
appreciated!
