Default Outlook 2k7 .pst problems

I recently tried to upgrade my Office 2003 pro suite to Office 2007 pro
suite. Everything seems to install fine but when I open Outlook and try to
connect to either an old pst or a newly created pst it just says that it
cannot display folder. I have tried to delete my profile and create a new one
to no avail. I tried running the scanpst on my existing pst and there were no
errors. I completely uninstalled the office suite and tried a fresh install.
I am still getting the same errors. Does anyone have a clue as to what is
causing this problem? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Outlook cannot survive upgrade installations of Office, even though
Microsoft will not admit that reality. It is far better to install Office
clean. Creating a new Outlook profile should fix most problems, however. How
did you do so? Did this profile have a unique name? Do you have a good
backup of the Outlook data file you would like to transfer?
