I am using Outlook 2002 on my system with my mail service being AOL. After
installing software, I cannot get the send and receive button to work in Outlook. Every time I press the button, a message "operation failed" is displayed. I'm not sure what I overlooking in the configuration. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks. |

Is there any more info in the error message?
You could try a new profile. I'd start by only adding a POP3 account - test that then add your IMAP account. -- Bill R "owconway" wrote in message ... I tried as you suggested, first setting up a pop3 account (I set up a new
personal folder). Could not get the inbox to download. Then I set up a imap account and the account immediately downloaded the headers from my aol account. But when I attempted to have it repeat the header download, message " operation failed" came up. "BillR" wrote: Is there any more info in the error message? You could try a new profile. No, the only message is "operation failed".

Disable any antivirus email integration you might have enabled. Increase the
server timeout. I usually disable IMAP form the main Send/Receive group and click on the IMAP folder to connect to it. I also disable the reading pane for IMAP so headers are only downloaded unless I open the message. -- Bill R "owconway" wrote in message news ![]() No, the only message is "operation failed".
